Brides on Beds

An ethnographic project about brides and their transition from girlhood to womanhood

This project highlights the moment prior the bride puts on her wedding gown. Brides are usually excited about their wedding day and the bold step they are about to take, however few are conscious of the transition from girlhood to womanhood. This project emphasizes the fleeting instance where the bride is still a girl in her parent's, or her own, bedroom about to get ready. Hair styled and face made up, yet still not wearing the wedding gown, the bride looks incomplete. There is a moment of reflection. A pause. The way forward is a new title together with her partner as husband and wife.

This project has been exhibited for the Art+Feminism 2020 edition running from February to April 2020 at Spazju Kreattiv, Valletta

Due to Covid-19 Pandemic, exhibition has been extended to 23rd August 2020
