Gilardu's sweet smile

Gilardu

February 4, 2016

Yesterday I was roaming the streets of Valletta with students. It was a good day, however Gilardu was the one who made my day shine brighter.....He saw me shoot from a distance, and waved at me to go over. I did....thinking that he would want me to delete the photos shot!

However he surprised me because he wanted to see the photos! We had a chat and turns out that he has been in this business since 1947 when his father had the newsagent kiosk first.

I snapped away whilst chatting...and I left Valletta with a spring in my step! People like Gilardu make me happy!

(Documentary story inspired by fellow friend and photographer Joe Smith from his work called Survivors).
